Tessera is a free daily word puzzle, with optional purchases in the mobile app. By playing, you agree to these terms. They're short on purpose.

Who runs the game

Tessera Puzzle is operated by Cooper Banfield Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company number 17281235), registered office C/O Aardvark Accounting, 1 Cedar Office Park, Cobham Road, Wimborne, BH21 7SB, United Kingdom. VAT number GB523850496. Contact: support@tesserapuzzle.com.

Playing on the website

Tessera is played in the free iPhone and Android apps. The website lets each visitor try one puzzle; after that, it points you to the app. The daily puzzle, Chain, leaderboards and leagues are all in the app.

Using the puzzle

You can play freely. We ask you not to:

• Scrape or automate solves for the daily puzzle.
• Publish the day's solution before midnight UTC.
• Attempt to disrupt the service or other players' experience.
• Use Tessera to break the law.

Your account

An account is optional for the daily puzzle and needed for Chain, leaderboards, leagues and coins. Your handle is public, so pick one that isn't offensive, impersonating someone, or someone else's personal information. We may reset a handle or league name that breaks this, and suspend accounts that keep doing it.

Coins and purchases

• Coins are an in-game currency. They have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money, and can't be transferred to another account. They can only be spent in Tessera.
• You can earn coins by playing, or by choosing to watch an ad (up to a daily limit), and buy them in the mobile app.
• Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play, and their terms and refund policies apply. If a purchase is refunded, we remove the coins it added, as far as your balance allows, or the themes it unlocked.
• The every-theme unlock includes the themes on sale when you buy it. Themes added later may be sold separately.
• We may change prices, what coins can buy, and how many coins things earn. Coins you already hold stay yours.
• Deleting your account deletes its coins and purchases. They can't be restored or refunded afterwards.
• Nothing here affects your statutory rights.

Ownership

The puzzles, code, and designs are owned by Cooper Banfield Ltd. You can play, share scores, and link to the site. You can't reproduce the puzzles or designs commercially without written permission.

Service availability

We try to keep Tessera available every day, but we don't guarantee uptime. The puzzle may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance, hosting issues, or causes outside our control.

Changes

We may update these terms occasionally. The "last updated" date at the top shows when. Material changes will be flagged in-app. Continued play after a non-material change means you accept the update.

Liability

Tessera is provided as-is. We aren't liable for losses arising from your use of the site or its unavailability, except where the law doesn't allow us to exclude liability (for example, fraud or death and personal injury caused by negligence). Our total liability to you is capped at £100.

Termination

You can stop using Tessera any time. Clear your data on the web via your browser settings, or delete your account in the app's Settings. We may suspend or remove access for anyone who breaks these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
